Discover why we’re passionate about walking Carmarthenshire’s incomparable network of 3,000km of public rights of way and richly varied landscapes - the best of Carmarthenshire’s spectacular scenery cannot be seen from metalled roads, and many places of interest can only be reached on foot. Discover the haunts of Merlin, King Arthur´s magician; of Twm Siôn Cati, the Welsh Robin Hood; and the Lady of the Lake and her descendants the Physicians of Myddfai. Share our delight in gardens, castles and Carmarthenshire´s rich heritage of chapels; wild flowers, and the elegant red kite, the ´bird of Wales´, saved from the brink of loss; prehistoric and Roman sites, National Trust properties; Dylan Thomas country; sites of ancient battles; locally produced artisan food; the Welsh woollen industry; male voice choirs, traditional dancing; village agricultural shows and much more.
Carmarthenshire - a deeply rural and undiscovered county. Parts are very remote, with hills rising to over 2,500 feet. The 50+ mile coastline is lovely, with some stunning beaches and glorious views across Carmarthen Bay and estuaries. Scenic river valleys; green farmed landscapes; ancient woodland; extensive forests; small family farms. Carmarthenshire is beautiful in winter, and its mild climate makes for enjoyable walking all year round.
