A layer of home made marzipan is baked inside this fruit cake, which is topped with more marzipan and decorated with 11 marzipan balls (discs on the 4" version) representing the Apostles with the exception of Judas, and hand crystallised primroses and violets. A very beautiful spring/ Easter cake. According to Pliny, primrose leaves and flowers are a panacea for muscular rheumatism, paralysis and gout! Who could possibly resist?
